For me this is a tossup between Hudson and Gomes. If we sign Johnny Damon and his popcorn arm I'll cut the Rays tattoo out of my right arm. Gomes is a fan favorite in the Tampa Bay area and he is everything a coach wants as far as a team player and a great teammate. But like Pena, Gomes is often an all or nothing type hitter. It would be great to sign him to a minor-league contract and give him an opportunity to make the team out of spring training. But again, the Rays have an abundance of outfielders, and Gomes at 1B is a liability, so I think the chances of signing Gomes and him making the team is a long shot, even though I would love to see him with a Rays uni on again. As for Hudson, I think this would be a great pick up. Defense wins championships and as Dustin mentioned, our defense would be sick with him at 2B. This move would make Zobrist our everyday RF, locking down that position so I no longer have to see Gabe Gross out there, even though he has an unbelievable arm. The only problem is his salary, which could cause problems later on down the road.
