13 was a lucky number for Rays fans

Rays Colored Glasses: Favorite Son Returns, Sort of

When Carl Crawford first put on a Tampa Bay Devil Rays jersey no one really knew the impact he would make both on the team and in the community. Today as he stood in front of fans at the Charlotte Sports Park, the cheers were plenty if not mixed. One fan shouted “Carl we love you, but that’s the last time” shortly before he popped up in his first at bat against his former team.

Where Carl will be missed is on the basepaths. He was a constant concern for opposing pitchers, and this year we are going to experience that first hand.

Crawford was a four-time All-Star while with the Rays, and he will be missed. Hopefully not for long.
