At least that’s what the Durham Bulls must be thinking. The Rays called up Jose Lobaton for the Red Sox series. He barely played the equivalent of a full game and then sprains his knee and had to be placed on the disabled list after last night’s game. The Rays then call up Robinson Chirinos, one of the prospects that Rays grabbed from the Cubs for Matt Garza. He’s had a decent season for the Bulls hitting .265/.342/.378 with five homers and 22 runs batted in. He had a tough start to the year, making those number look a little bit more impressive. He is right-handed, so there is no obvious platoon spot to start him. Hopefully Rays fans will get more of a look at Chirinos than they did Lobaton.
