What's Important Now: Davis Strong in Win

Spring Game 17: Rays 3, Marlins 2

Wade Davis definitely bounced back from his rough appearance last time around. Yesterday he was like a different pitcher. In five innings, Davis one earned on three hits, walking none and striking out five. Davis certainly needs more starts like this to secure the fifth starting spot over Jeff Niemann, who appears to be the early leader, but this is certainly a step in the right direction.

On offense, non-roster invitee Will Rhymes carried the team. Rhymes was 2 for 5 with a double and all three of the team’s RBIs.The only other player with two hits was Jesus Feliciano, who was 2 for 3. Desmond Jennings was 1 for 2 with a run and a walk from the leadoff spot. Jose Lobaton also picked up a hit.

Spring Game 18: Yankees at Rays

Time: 1:05

TV: ESPN

Pitchers: Rays- Kyle Farnsworth, Burke Badenhop, Brandon Gomes, J.P. Howell, Jake McGee, Cesar Ramos

Yankees- Phil Hughes

Jeff Niemann was scheduled to start today, but he will instead pitch in a minor league game to avoid having him face an AL East rival. The Rays will go with a bunch of bullpen guys instead.
