What's Important Now: Bush in Trouble

The Rays did pick up a win yesterday, but that wasn’t the big news as minor leaguer and promising bullpen prospect Matt Bush found himself in some trouble. Bush was arrested yesterday at around 5 P.M. for driving under the influence and fleeing the scene of an accident. Bush hit a motorcycle in his SUV. The condition of the motorcyclist is unknown.

Bush has run into some trouble in the past, which derailed his plans in San Diego. The Rays knew they were taking a risk by signing him, but things had been going good up until this point. The Rays will most likely have to let Bush go, because the Rays are a team that does not like distractions, and this certainly could be one. Depending on how the victim is doing, Bush could be looking at some jail time.

Spring Game 20: Rays 8, Pirates 6

James Shields was on the mound yesterday for the Rays, and he struggled a bit. Shields allowed 10 hits and 5 runs, 3 earned, in 5.2 innings. Shields has one of those starts every once in a while, and, as usual, the struggles came due to the home run ball. Shields allowed two homers in this start.

The Rays certainly had the offense going, getting 8 runs on 9 hits. Sam Fuld was 1 for 4 with a run. Ben Zobrist was 1 for 2 with a walk and a run. Jeff Keppinger was 1 for 3 with an RBI. Chris Gimenez was 1 for 5 with a RBI. Will Rhymes has been hot in the last couple of games, getting a solo homer in this one.
