Let’s just say that June did not go well for the Rays. MLB Network Rays Correspondent JB Long had the details, tweeting from @RaysGameDay.
#Rays post 12-15 record in June. Hit .222 (199-897), easily lowest average for a single month in franchise history (May ’02 — .230). #MLB

Good thing it’s over, and hopefully the Rays can get healthy and back on the right track in July. Kyle Farnsworth did return for the Rays with a scoreless inning on Saturday night, but unfortunately Jeremy Hellickson had to leave his start after just 2.2 innings after a line drive hit him in the leg. Luckily Hellickson, fresh off the DL after experiencing shoulder fatigue, is expected to make his next start, as Marc Topkin tweeted.
The Rays “throwback uniforms” from Saturday elicited mostly a common reaction: laughs and snide comments. Steve Berthiaume of ESPN may have had the best one.
Horrified to discover that had the #Rays existed in 1979 they would have played wearing children’s pajamas.
