A Spooky Good Contest for Rays Fans

As the World Series begins tonight, baseball fans have one question on their minds: Will the San Francisco Giants or the Detroit Tigers win the Series? However, these types of questions are always tough to ask for the fans whose teams are not in the World Series. Every fan dreams of each season being the season their team will win the Series.

Despite the Rays’ lack of a postseason appearance this year, the organization is giving young fans a chance to win their own competition. The Rays are currently hosting a competition on Instagram, called Rays-O-Ween, to see which fan can create the most unique Rays themed Halloween picture. Children from across the nation are invited to join in on the fun, but there is an added bonus for Tampa Bay residents. A winner will be chosen who lives within 75 miles of Tropicana Field and will receive a visit from Raymond, the Rays’ mascot, on Halloween night. Raymond will also bring goodies to the winner’s house. However, for those fans that live much farther away from the Trop, they are still eligible to win runner-up prizes. Parents are to post entries to Instagram with the hash tag #RaysOWeen by Friday, October 26. Most entries already posted include a decorative Rays themed pumpkin, but any Halloween items are allowed.

While most fans have to sit around and wait around until next season to catch any action, Tampa Bay is giving their fans a reason to keep the excitement for the Rays alive in the offseason. It is activities like this that engage both children and adults that make the Rays a fun organization for fans to follow. So grab your carving knife and help your kiddies make the best Rays pumpkin around or stage a picture with all of your Rays paraphernalia. You never know, a giant seadog might ring your doorbell on Halloween. Boo!
