The Update: No Yunel Escobar Extension Yet, But "Serious Talks"

On Tuesday, I wrote that a Yunel Escobar extension was “about to happen” after being told by a source. It is possible that my source was getting just a touch ahead of himself, but it is clear now that something is indeed happening between the Tampa Bay Rays and Escobar. Marc Topkin confirmed that the Rays and Escobar are indeed having “serious talks,” and MLB Trade Rumors has mentioned Rays Colored Glasses in regards to mentioning those talks first. We are going to have to wait and see whether an agreement being reached is as imminent as my source suggested, but it is encouraging to know that even after extending Chris Archer, the Rays are still looking to lock up other members of their team. My thoughts on a potential Yunel Escobar extension are in the previous piece.
