Half of Tampa Bay Rays have been dreading this moment while the other half has been waiting for it for a long time. Either way, it looks like the David Price deal is actual about to take place. Joel Sherman knocked down the first domino.
Been told #Rays are definitely moving Price

That didn’t mean all that much–it seemed like we had been hearing people say things like that about David Price for a long time. But then Marc Topkin added to the conversation.
Am hearing #Rays have something coming as well

Topkin is the one who reports nearly every Rays story, so suddenly it looked like Sherman’s source had validity. Then came Jon Paul Morosi and Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.
David Price’s name has surfaced in talks between Rays and Tigers, sources say. Not clear if there’s been progress toward deal.

Dodgers and Rays have talked about David Price today, sources say.— Jon Morosi (@jonmorosi) July 31, 2014
Finally, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports added in another potential suitor: the Pittsburgh Pirates.
#pirates are talking to tampa bay about price. dodgers, mariners have been interested. never count out tigers tho.

It remains to be seen exactly what is going to happen, but things are going to right down to the wire for the Tampa Bay Rays at the trade deadline. The Los Angeles Dodgers (along with the Seattle Mariners) have been a potential fit for a long time, and we’ll have to see if the Detroit Tigers or Pittsburgh Pirates can put something together. Stay tuned to see if David Price is still around come 4:01 PM.
