There maybe something going on behind the scenes again. But if Winter Ball is any indication, Manny Ramirez still has some ability left.

Dominican Winter League: Aguilas Cibaenas 4, Gigantes del Cibao 2

Manny Ramirez’s cleanup position in the Cibaenas batting order is likely in reverence of his previous accomplishments more than anything else, but he lived up to it on Thursday night, going 2 for 3 with a double and a run scored. Omar Luna may really not get in the Cibaenas lineup again, having not played since December 1st, and Rhyne Hughes has appeared just once since December 1st for Cibao, as a pinch-hitter, so he may have an injury or sickness bothering him.

Mexican Pacific League: Aguilas de Mexicali 5, Naranjeros der Hermosillo 4 (10 innings)

With Erick Rodriguez on fire for the Naranjeros, Humberto Cota started for them but bizarrely played first base, although he did go 1 for 4 with a run scored. Jorge Cantu also went 1 for for Hermsillo but the most impressive ex-Ray was Jon Weber, who went 2 for 4 with a run scored for Mexicali.

Roberto Clemente Professional Baseball League (Puerto Rico): Game 1: Criollos de Caguas 2, Gigantes de Carolina 1

Game 2: Gigantes de Carolina 4, Criollos de Caguas 3

Game 1 was uneventful as the only ex-Ray, Jesus Feliciano, went 0 for 4, but in Game 2, Jesus Feliciano went 2 for with a run scored and Sergio Espinosa, who was in the Rays organization in 2010 and 2011 after signing out of Cuba, went 0.2 scoreless innings for Caguas, working around a hit.

Venezuelan Winter League: Tiburones de La Guaira 6, Aguilas del Zulia 3

Cesar Suarez, playing left field instead of his usual second base for La Guaira, went 2 for 4 with an RBI to raise his VWL average to .306. Ryan Reid has been excellent for Zulia just about his entire time there, but he was a disaster in this one, going just a third of an inning allowing 2 runs on 3 hits. Even after that, his VWL ERA is still 2.45 so that tells you how good he has pitched overall.
