Rays Pick Up Huge Win vs Roy Halladay

The Tampa Bay Rays handed Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay his worst loss in over 2 years last night, a huge win that kept us within 3 games of the WC leading Boston Red Sox.

Jeff Niemann survived an awful start and kept his composure to give the Rays 6.1 innings.  He gave up 5 runs, and certainly was not at his best, but this guy is showing an old school Livan Hernandezesque potential to me.  I don’t think he is ever going to be a 2.90 ERA guy, but he can certainly be a 220 inning 4.10 ERA pitcher, an important cog for an AL East team.

Zorilla and JB each had 3 hits.  Zorilla hit a 7th inning dinger off Brandon League.  Ben finished with 4 runs, 3 hits, and 2 BB.

On a side note, it is nice looking at the AL leaderboards, and seeing Jason Bartlett sitting 3rd in the league with a .343 BA, Carlos Pena leading the AL in HR with 35, and Evan Longoria 4th in RBI with 88.
