Kelly Shoppach was put on the 15 day disabled list with a sprained right knee that happended on April 11th after he broke up the no-hitter against the Yanks. Brought up to fill his spot is John Jaso from Triple- A  Durham.  Jaso appeared in five games with Tampa Bay in 2008 and was 4 for 11 in three games with Durham this season.

The Rays have also signed Cuban player Leslie Anderson. Anderson is a 28 year old 1B/OF that played in the Cuban National Series for nine seasons and also played for the Cuban team in the World Classic. His career numbers show him having a career .320 batting average. He hit .381 with 13 home runs and 61 RBIs during the 2008-09 season, his final year in the league.”Anderson is the consummate professional hitter,” said Carlos Alfonso, Rays director of international operations. “We were also attracted to him because of his athleticism, and the fact that he can play all three outfield positions, as well as first base.”Anderson has been assigned to extended spring training camp at Charlotte Sports Park in Port Charlotte, Fla.
