The Rays finally finished thier 10 game road trip, sweeping the Orioles and Red Sox and losing one against the White Sox. The Rays outscored their opponents 69-23 during the 10 game trip.”It’s new for us, but it’s nice,” Crawford said. “Guys have been taking it more serious on the road. And we’ve been trying to focus hard and it seems like it’s been working for us. It’s nice to win on the road.” That just shows how well we have been hitting and how well the pitching staff has been. Below, is how the Rays rank in the MLB as of now:

Runs-3rd
Hits-10th
HR’s-13th
Avg-13th
RBI’s-2nd
Stolen Bases-2nd
Team ERA- 6th
Wins-1st

If you think these rankings are good or not, the Rays are the best team in baseball and are showing no signs of slowing down. They spanked the White Sox last night 10-2 after trailing in the first couple innings. There is one thing the Rays have shown this year, they dont mind coming back to win games. In fact, most of their wins have been this way. Its real easy to get down when your team starts out the game behind a couple of runs but as we can see from what has been going on, there are no worries from Rays fans right now if we dont start out with the lead. Its kind of the sense we know at some point in the game they will come back and win.

Last night was just another batting practice for the Rays, banging 11 hits, including 3 hits from Ben Zobrist, who is trying to burst out of his 3-26 slump. I mentioned he needed to perform better batting 3rd in the lineup and I guess he read the post. He also got paid, getting an extention worth almost 30 million for 5 years. I dont know if hes worth that much, especially since were trying to sign Carl Crawford but Im not the one writing the checks. Carlos Pena kept his tear of the ball up, getting a couple hits and driving in 4.

James Shields showed his inconsistency on the mound again but did record the win. I guess its hard to lose when your team is averaging almost 7 runs a game. “After the first inning, I had to do something,” Shields said. “My mechanics were a little inconsistent in the first inning. I threw a lot of pitches. But that’s the name of the game. I think today was a huge game for our team as far as picking each other up.” As of now Shields seems to be the weakest link or not as trustworthy to me to win games as the rest of the rotation. But he is a good weakest link and I really dont like using that word to describe him but I am. Its not the worst thing to be the weakest link when your pitching in a rotation like the Rays have. By the way, has anyone seen Rafael Soriano? I guess we dont need him when were whooping that ass like we have been.

The Rays start their homestand tonight against the Blue Jays (9-7), 3rd in AL East.  Future Cy Young Award winner Matt Garza, will face off agianst Brett Cecil. This will be Cecil’s first start of the season. Hopefully the fans will come out and support the best team in baseball. Its ok to come out and watch a game when its not against teams like the Red Sox and Yankees.
