Thoughts on the World Series so far

Even though the Rays are not in the World Series and the hangover still looms over Tampa, I have been watching the World Series and have been shocked at what I have seen so far. The Giants blasted the Rangers last night 9 to 0 to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the World Series. The Giants offense has been incredible and the pitching even better, while Texas can’t hit and their ace pitchers have been humanized.

Cliff Lee was awful in game one, never having full command like he did as when he dominated the Rays and Yankees. He put the ball in the center of the plate and Juan Uribe and company shelled him. Lincecum was incredible and made the Texas hitters look bad. Last night was much of the same as C.J. Wilson pitched well, but had to leave with an injury (blister). Matt Cain dominated and the offense backed him up as they scored 7 runs in the 8th inning to give them a comfortable win.

I was pulling for Texas in this series. Seeing Pat Burrell win a ring is a sickening idea and Josh Hamilton is deserving. Plus, Texas is from the AL and was the team that knocked the Rays out of the playoffs, so they better win it all. Now the series returns to Texas where Colby Lewis and company will have to rebound in order to make this a series. Hamilton, Kinsler, and others have to figure out how to jump ahead of the Giant pitchers and launch some home runs at home to get the crowd going and renew their spirits.
