So while Andrew Friedman and the Winter meetings are quiet so far, the Rays made one move today. They have signed DH/1B Dan Johnson to a one year deal, avoiding arbitration.

The deal is worth around $1 million, so it should help keep the Rays payroll low for now. Johnson can play either at first or DH. After putting up huge numbers in the minors, he struggled at the major league level but has tons of power and with a full Spring ahead, he could be very productive in the middle of the Rays lineup.
