Just got a link sent to me by a friend. Marc Tompkin just blogged on TampaBay.com that the Rays signed former Seminole High star Casey Kotchman to a minor league deal.

Kotchman’s baseball roots run deep. His father, Tom Kotchman, is a minor league coach and scout in the Anaheim Angels organization with 30+ years of developing players. His brother Randy was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in 1985 and spent some time in the minor leagues playing for the Miami Miracle and the Boise Hawks.

The Rays also claimed RP Rob Delaney after he was designated for assignment by the Minnesota Twins. Delaney could be an interesting addition to a severely depleted Bullpen. Delaney spent five years in the Twins Minor league system and at 26 could be a sneaky-good addition. His minor league stats are certainly interesting: 337.2 innings pitched, 355 K’s, 2.96 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 66 saves.
