Rays Colored Glasses – 12-12, What does it mean?

Spring training is about figuring out where the pieces fit, and in the case of the Tampa Bay Rays, there are a lot more pieces of the puzzle to figure out than most teams, thanks to a well-documented off-season that saw the bullpen gutted and our top outfielder depart for a monster contract to a division rival.
Prior to today’s game against Houston, the spring training Rays are even at 12-12. Although it doesn’t matter all that much, it is interesting to see how they have faired, especially against their division foes.
Toronto – winners of one out of three games
New York – a win, a lost and a tie
Baltimore – 0-2
Boston – 3-0 (I’m sure they have a little extra emotion going into games against Boston)
The Rays are also 2-1 against the World Series Champion Philadelphia Phillies and 2-3 against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Over the last few days of spring training Kris, JB and I will take a look at the various camp battles that will be determined prior to the season start.
