Rays and Twins postponed tonight

The Rays and Twins game tonight has been postponed tonight due to weather. The game will be made up this Thursday as part of a double header. Originally, there was an afternoon game schedule on Thursday, so tonight’s will start on Thursday night at 8:00. This seemed strange to me because an afternoon game on a Thursday is usually a “get away” game or a game played early so the teams can get to their next city. Playing that night will delay the Rays from getting home to Tampa. The reason they are probably doing this is that the weather doesn’t look that much better for tomorrow or for Thursday, for that matter. It looks possible that the entire series might be postponed with “rain/snow” and temperatures in the 40’s the next two days.

When the Rays finally do play their next game, they will have an extremely rested bullpen. Because of James Shields‘ gem on Sunday, the relief corps will not have thrown since Saturday. The rotation should stay the same, although if they do play a double header, it should affect the rotation the next go around, unless Joe Maddon decides to use a pitcher on short rest.
