Summary:
Evan Longoria announced his return in a big way today while team mates B.J. Upton, Ben Zobrist and Casey Kotchman led a Ray’s hit-parade as Tampa pounded Baltimore 8-2 for their seventh consecutive road win and guaranteeing another series win for the flaming hot Rays. In the battle of the Jeremy’s, it was the Rays’ Hellickson easily outdistancing the Orioles Guthrie, scattering three hits and collecting four strike outs in seven innings of work for his third win of the season. Hellickson was a bit wild, allowing five bases on balls, but the Rays could do no wrong and it didn’t make a difference when the game was done.
Longoria hammered out a three run home run and collected four RBI’s to power up the Rays offense. Zobrist went 4-5, Kotchman 3-5 and Upton hit his fifth home run of the season, a three RBI rocket to right field as the Rays finished the day with 15 hits, 10 off Guthrie to chase him out of the game after five innings.
Players of the Game: Evan Longoria and B.J. Upton.
