v: Cleveland Indians

Attendance: 16,800

W: David Price (6-4) 3.54 ERA

L: Josh Tomlin (6-2) 2.74 ERA
Summary:

Finally, these are the Rays that we all know and love. It’s been a tough stretch for Tampa Bay who had lost two of three in Miami and then got swept in an abbreviated series Detroit. David Price took the mound tonight looking to stop the streak and he was dominant. Over seven shutout innings, he struck out 12 and only allowed four hits. He also had to dodge some equipment that was hurled his way. Once a line drive nearly hit him in the head and later, Price had to quickly drop to the ground to avoid getting hit with a broken bat that more resembled a spear.

The Rays got all of the offense they would need when Casey Kotchman and Sam Fuld each hit two run homers in the second. Fuld added some nice glove work in support of Price. Matt Joyce continued his torrid hitting at home going three for four with a run batted in.

Finally, the Rays put up some runs at home. They’ve fallen off a bit on the road, so hopefully they’ll pick up the slack at the Trop.
