JB’s American League All-Star Picks

By Unknown author

With the All-Star Game coming in less a little less than a month here are my picks for the American League All-Star team. I followed the rules that MLB does to select the teams. So, the roster has 34 players and every team is represented. Let me know what you think in the comments below.

C: Alex Avila-Det (The catching position is rather thin in the American League. Avila has been the best offensive catcher in the league).

1B: Adrian Gonzalez-Bos

2B: Robinson Cano-NYY

SS: Asdrubal Cabrera-Cle

3B: Adrian Beltre-Tex

OF: Jose Bautista-Tor

OF: Matthew Joyce-TB

OF: Curtis Granderson-NYY

DH: David Ortiz-Bos

SP: Josh Beckett-Bos (No doubt Beckett deserves to start this game after what he did to the Rays this week)

C-Carlos Santana-Cle

C-Russell Martin-NYY

1B-Paul Konerko-Chi

1B-Miguel Cabrera-Det (I wanted to pick Casey Kotchman who’s hitting .345 but not enough power to justify a selection)

2B-Ben Zobrist-TB (I selected five Rays but I originally had selected four and then realized that Zobrist is second best player at the position. Plus, he provides flexibility to the team)

2B-Maicer Izturis-LAA

SS-Alexei Ramirez-Chi

3B-Alex Rodriguez-NYY

OF-Carlos Quentin-Chi

OF-Jeff Francoeur-KC

OF-Adam Jones-Bal

OF-Jason Kubel-Min (Usually, making sure every team is represented is tricky to do. When I went through my initial picks, the Twins weren’t represented. Kubel is their best choice)

DH-Michael Young-Tex

SP-James Shields-TB

SP-Jeremy Hellickson-TB

SP-C.C. Sabathia-NYY

SP-Alexi Ogando-Tex

SP-Michael Pineda-Sea

SP-Gio Gonzalez-Oak

SP-Jered Weaver-LAA

RP-Kyle Farnsworth-TB (Farnsworth has had a bit of a tough week, but he has been the best closer in the American League this year. He absolutely deserves to be on this team)

RP-Mariano Rivera-NYY

RP-Chris Perez-Cle

RP-Neftali Feliz-Tex
