As the season inches closer, the prospect lists keep rolling out. Keith Law of ESPN published his yesterday. As usual, the Rays did pretty good on the list. Matt Moore was the highest ranked of the six Rays that made Law’s top 100, coming in third behind Mike Trout and Bryce Harper. One more Ray cracked the top 15, with Hak-Ju Lee coming in at 12. Chris Archer made the list at 63, as did Enny Romero at 84. The Rays top two draft picks from 2011 made the list, with Mikie Mahtook ranked at 87 and Taylor Guerrieri at 88.

This will most likely be Moore’s last year on these prospect lists, and he is raking in the accolades. Moore will most likely step into the rotation full time this season, so next year he should be firmly planted in the Rays rotation.

Rays News and Notes

  • Keith Law did another list earlier in the week, ranking the top farm systems in the big leagues. As usual, the Rays were near the top of the list. The Rays came in second, behind the San Diego Padres and just in front of the Toronto Blue Jays.
  • Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times highlights the one Fan Cave finalist who claims to be a Rays fan. The one finalist also claims to be a Yankees fan, so no true Rays fans made the top 50 finalists.
  • Sun Sports announced their 150 televised games for this upcoming season yesterday. The news also came with news that a studio pregame show is being added for all road games, in addition to the Rays Live! shows from the Trop for home games. Sun Sports will also produce nine more episodes of the always popular Inside the Rays.
