Spring Game 12: Rays 7, Orioles 7

While David Price struggled in his return from a towel attack, Matt Moore pitched very well. Moore went 1.2 innings, allowing only one walk and striking out three. This was Moore’s first spring training appearance of his career, and I’m sure he would say it went well. Price, however, would not say the same. Price 3.2 innings, allowing four earned on five hits and two walks.

On offense, Matt Joyce had a good game. Joyce was 2 for 3 with a solo homer. Brandon Guyer was also 2 for 3, picking up a RBI. Hak-Ju Lee also had a great game, going 2 for 2 with a triple and two RBIs.

Rays News and Notes

  • The Tampa Bay Times reports that video review will not be expanded for this season. MLB had hoped that replay could be expanded to include fair or foul calls, trapped ball calls, and fan interference calls all around the ballpark. We will have to wait until 2013 for MLB to get up to speed with other sports when it comes to replay.
  • Marc Topkin writes that David Price is not too upset with his performance yesterday, outside one bad inning.
  • Everyone was impressed with Matt Moore’s first spring appearance, says Marc Topkin. Jose Molina was really impressed with Moore’s outing.
