Rays Notes: Price, Molina, Joyce

Some quick but exciting notes surrounding yesterday’s Rays-Indians game, a crisp 6-0 win for the Rays.

Jose Molina stole a base! Jose Molina stole a base! It wasn’t even on a hit and run or anything! He flat out stole a base! Cherish this moment because you’re not going to see anything like it for a long time.

David Price channeled his inner James Shields with a pickoff of Asdrubal Cabrera. Fun stat: since the start of 2011, Molina has more pickoffs (3) than Price does. Good thing Price doesn’t need pickoffs very often. He prefers the K. And one more thing on DP.

Price has been downright incredible this season, being a constant on a Rays team with questions all around, and he’s officially and undoubtedly an ace now, if he wasn’t already. With his 13th win, Price already beats his total of 12 wins from 2011 and he’s well on his way to his career-high 0f 19 wins in 2010. With the 13 wins to go along with a 2.64 ERA and 3.39 FIP, Price is as good as it gets.

Unfortunately, all the news can never be positive.

Joyce got the day off Thursday because of the stiffness and soreness. Hopefully he can get back in the lineup without further incident and manage to play well despite the nagging problems.
