Game 110: Alex Cobb Leads Rays To Victory

Alex Cobb pitched seven strong innings, helping lead the Rays to a 3-2 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Blue Jays picked up a run in the top of the third, as Rajai Davis was hit by a pitch with one out. After moving to third on a Colby Rasmus single, Davis scored on Edwin Encarnacion‘s sacrifice fly, giving the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead.
The Rays came back in the bottom of the inning. Desmond Jennings led off the frame with a double, and scored on B.J. Upton‘s double, tying the game at 1-1. Matthew Joyce singled, moving Upton to third. Evan Longoria grounded into a double play, plating Joyce for a 2-1 advantage. Following consecutive walks to Ben Zobrist and Carlos Pena, Jeff Keppinger hit an RBI single, driving in Zobrist for a 3-1 lead.
That score held up until the top of the ninth, when David Cooper hit a solo home run off Fernando Rodney with one out. Rodney avoided further damage, notching his 34th save as he preserved the 3-2 win.
Cobb gave up one earned run on five hits and two hit batters, while striking out seven. Zobrist was 1-2 with a run scored and two walks in the victory.
