Rays Notes: Stadium News, Injury Updates

By David Hill

Another update on the Rays stadium situation: officials in Pinellas County have now extended an invitation to the Rays to discuss a stadium there. Officials are hoping to sit down with members of the Rays ownership between the end of the season and Spring Training.

Real estate developer Darryl LeClair has also gotten involved, sending a letter to St. Petersburg mayor Bill Foster, proposing to build a new ballpark on 12 acres of land his real estate group controls in the Carillon Business Park.

Luke Scott took batting practice yesterday, and stated that he felt good afterwards. He plans on discussing a rehab assignment with Joe Maddon and head trainer Ron Porterfield.

Jeff Neimann started his rehab assignment last night, pitching for the Charlotte Stone Crabs. He gave up an uneraned run on three hits and a walk, striking out three over 2.2 innings of work.
