One good outing can be all a pitcher needs to get back on the right track.

Dominican Winter League: Estrellas de Orient 3, Toros del Este 2

Joey Terdoslavich went 2 for 4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in a losing effort for Este. Current Rays’ farmhand Mayo Acosta went 0 for 3 but did throw out a runner. Chris Leroux gave up 3 runs in 2.2 innings, which proved to be all Oriente needed for the win. Oriente’s pitching staff did not walk a single hitter the entire game but they did hit one batter.

Mexican Pacific League: Tomateros de Culiacan 5, Venados de Mazatlan 4

A late rally by Mazatlan fell just short. Henry Mateo had a strong game by going 3 for 5 with a pair of triples and a pair of RBI’s. He did make a throwing error that proved costly for Mazatlan. Jorge Cantu went 1 for 4 with an RBI in the winning effort for Culiacan. Ali Solis went 0 for 4 and saw his average drop to .291 for the fall.

Venezuelan Winter League: Aguilas del Zulia 2, Caribes de Anzoategul 1

Alex Torres hasn’t been particularly sharp this fall for Zulia but he may have taken a step in the right direction. He went 4.1 innings and only allowed a run on two hits. His control eluded him a bit as he walked four hitters but was able to strike out four.  Juan Apodaca went 1 for 3 with a run scored.

Leones del Caracas 11, Navegantes del Magallanes 7

In what turned out to be a high scoring affair, Caracas came out on top. Gerardo Para and Jesus Guzman led the way for Caracas as each had 3 hits. Bobby Abreu went 1 for 2 with a pair of runs batted in and a pair of walks. His average is now at .294. Robinson Chirinos went 2 for 5 with a double and an RBI for Magallanes. He also threw out 3 attempting base stealers. Both teams combined for 30 hits and 10 of those went for extra bases.
