5. Chicago Cubs
Chris Coghlan is coming off a major rebound in 2014, but most of his progress at the plate was negated by horrific defense in left field. In addition, can his breakout truly last? DeJesus could return to the Cubs to provide a surer bet offensively who would not possibly be as bad on defense. He could also help provide the Cubs’ young team with veteran leadership.
The issue here, though, is that Kris Bryant will arrive in the majors before long, and DeJesus’ playing time would disappear when he does. DeJesus is currently in that same situation in Tampa Bay with Steven Souza (although obviously Souza isn’t as good of a prospect), and the Cubs are unlikely to desire being in that spot themselves.
