The Tampa Bay Rays have an eye towards contending in the 2017 season. If that is going to happen, they need to get some strong contributions for a few key players.

When looking at the Tampa Bay Rays goals for the 2017 season, the team will need to get some major contributions from a few players on the roster. Evan Longoria cannot carry the offense by himself any longer, as last year’s team wide struggles with the bat proved. Likewise, the Rays cannot expect Chris Archer to carry the pitching staff. They are but two players on the 25 man roster, and need help for the Rays to return to contention.

Yes, Longoria and Archer are likely the two most important players on the team. However, there are several other players whose performance will prove vital to the Rays hopes for 2017. In some cases, these players may fly a bit under the radar, but that does not take away from what they will mean to the overall success for the Rays this year.

So which players will the Tampa Bay Rays need to step up their performance for the coming season? Let us take a look at a few key players, aside from Longoria and Archer, for the upcoming season.
