Montgomery Biscuits 2nd baseman Michael Russell had a huge day yesterday, knocking out five hits in six at bats, including a double. He is now batting .340 for the season. The Biscuits went on to win the game 10-4 over Birmingham and are now 19-25 for the season.
Kean Wong was the lone shining star for the Durham Bulls yesterday as they lost 9-2 to Indianapolis. Wong was three for four, improving his batting average to .327. He also added his 3rd home run of the season in the fourth inning.
Moises Gomez was three for five with a pair of doubles in a 9-6 win for the Bowling Green Hot Rods. The 19-year old outfielder from Venezuela is hitting .321 for the season.
Staying with Bowling Green, Sunday’s fourth star goes to starting pitcher Drew Strotman who improved his record to 3-0 while allowing two hits and two runs over five innings.
