#5 Scott Kazmir’s 2007

Scott Kazmir’s 2007 season is the only time that Kazmir made the list, but it was one of the best in Tampa Bay Rays history. Alongside James Shields, Kazmir provided over 200 valuable innings while striking out 239 batters.

Despite playing for a Devil Rays team that lost 95 games, Kazmir had a career year. Posting career highs in wins, innings pitched, and strikeouts. Kazmir also posted a career best earned run average   and ERA+.

Kazmir’s 239 strikeouts led the league and are third all time in Rays history and his WAR of 5.8 is tied for third, while his K/9 ranks as fifth best. Kazmir and Shields set the foundation for the historic 2008 season while putting up big numbers in 2007.
