Final Thoughts

If the Tampa Bay Rays are serious about reaching the playoffs in 2019 and beyond they have to solidify their rotation, it is a must. This can’t be accomplished by adding Trevor Cahill or Lance Lynn. It must be done by adding a dominant pitcher like Noah Syndergaard or Carlos Carrasco.

Trading for Thor now would set the Rays up for success in the coming years in a league where the wildcard is very much up for grabs. It isn’t guaranteed that the Athletics will be as good in 2019 and the Mariners are seemingly taking a step back which leaves the Rays staring October baseball square in the face once again.

If the Rays are willing to dip into their prospect pool, now would be the time to do it. Now would be the time to swoop in and shock the baseball world. Capitalize on Snell’s dominance and Willy Adames and Jake Baurers’ arrival. The rebuild is over, and  it is time to once again give the Yankees and Red Sox a reason to look over their shoulders in the East.
