Prediction: Blake Snell will repeat as the Cy Young winner

I haven’t witnessed a pitcher dominate as Blake Snell did on a daily basis quite like he did in 2018…ever. I’m only 18 and never really got to watch Pedro, Maddux, or Johnson, etc. in their prime, but personally, Blake was as good as I’ve seen in person. His 4 pitch mix is flat-out disgusting and it just comes easy to him.

He took a huge leap forward in 2018 following a 2017 season in which he was demoted at one point. Everything looked different. He began pitching with conviction and the results followed. He won 21 games and had a sub two earned run average. He only threw 180.2 innings but he struck out 221 batters.

If he stays healthy in 2019 and throws 200 innings while mirroring what he did in 2018 if not improving even in the slightest, then Blake Snell will win his second Cy Young in as many years.

Blake will have something to prove this season, that he can be the workhorse of a staff while being just as dominant. I expect him to show us all just that and run away with the Cy Young in the process.
