Rays fans are all eagerly anticipating the 2019 season. Not only is the team poised for success, there is a large group of players that seem destined to have breakout campaigns that will lift Tampa Bay into the playoffs and beyond.

2018 left the writing on the wall. The Tampa Bay Rays are loaded with talent all across the diamond, and many of the team’s players are working tirelessly in order to deliver the best possible performance they can in 2019.

Some names jump out more than others. We’re all very excited for Tommy Pham and his limitless potential at the plate. A full season of Willy Adames is something we’ll be all watching with keen anticipation. And almost every Rays writer, myself included, has enthusiastically gushed about the incredible upside Austin Meadows and Brandon Lowe will have and what they’ll be capable of in the near future.

But, because this is the Rays we are talking about, nothing will go the way we expect. There will be players we have forgotten about that will come from seemingly out of nowhere and become key factors in the team’s success.

In this article, I will be talking about 5 players that often get left out of the breakout season discussion, but have all of the tools in place to solidify themselves as excellent baseball players for the Rays in 2019.
