Non-Roster invites and official roster announced

This week, the Rays announced 5 non roster invites to their Spring Training roster and announced the full list of who will be in big league camp in a few weeks.

Of the 5 non-roster invites announced earlier this week, Emilio Bonifacio was the most intriguing. I would say he has virtually no chance to make the opening day roster, but never say never.

"Emilio Bonifacio was signed to a minor league deal by the Tampa Bay Rays who extended him an invitation to spring training. A journey man, Bonifacio has played for 8 different teams over his 11 year career int he Major Leagues. The utility man spent 2018 playing independent baseball in the Atlantic League. He has compiled a career .256 AVG (669-2610) with 13 bombs and 166 stolen bases. He has been worth 4.1 WAR during his career and last played on a major league field in 2017, with the Braves."

Also invited were 4 other pitchers with varying levels of experience at the major and minor league levels.

As of  a few days ago, the spring training roster is complete… but that can change in the blink of an eye. For now it includes 64 players and not one of them is named Wander Franco sadly. But, Lucius Fox, Nick Solak, Jesus Sanchez, and Nate Lowe will be in camp.

Joe McCarthy will also be in camp:

"Joe McCarthy will be looking to show off his power from the left side while attempting to give Guillermo Heredia a run for his money. Kean Wong will be looking to prove that he does in fact belong at the major league level."
