Tampa Bay Rays 2019 Draft: Previewing the Rays’ first 5 selections

Pick #61
The Rays’s second round selection may result in the addition of another 2-way player to their system.
Bryce Osmond, 2-Way, Jenks HS (Tex)
- MLB 200 Rank: 53
Considered one of the best two-way players in the draft, the Rays will likely have their eyes set on Osmond. They have selected a 2-way player in each of the past two drafts and I wouldn’t be surprised if they continued that trend with a section of Osmond. He is believed to be a legit shortstop with a chance to stick on the mound. His 6’3” 175 pound frame has plenty of room for him to grow as well.
Spencer Jones, 2-Way, La Costa Canyon (Cal)
- MLB 200 Rank: 71
If Osmond isn’t available, the Rays may take a chance on Jones at #61. The 6’7” first baseman and left-handed pitcher has shown potential at the plate while touching 93 on the mound with run.
Will Holland, SS, Auburn
- MLB Rank: 62
Knowing how much the Rays like shortstops, Holland could be a perfect fit. At 5’10”, 181 pounds Will Holland has shown deceptive power with speed tp burn. Some believe that he has flashed 20-20 potential.
