Stock up, stock down at Rays spring training

Stock Down: Brett Phillips
After being the hero of heroes in the World Series last year, Brett Phillips came into camp looking to not only secure a spot on the Opening Day roster but carve out a larger, more consistent role in the lineup. In terms of his play on the field, this spring has not gone to plan.
After 13 plate appearances, Phillips carried a .564 OPS and was less than spectacular in the field. To make matters worse, Phillips contracted a hamstring injury that will keep him sidelined for at least four weeks thus dashing his hopes for an active roster appearance on Opening Day.
Even once he is healthy again, he may need to make an active push to simply make the major league roster again with a logjam at outfield imminent.
Injuries and job insecurity aside, Brett will have an all-time interview in his pocket coming out of this spring.
