Jeter to resign with the Yankees, surprised?

Was it ever in doubt? The Yankees will be announcing today that they are resigning Derek Jeter to a 3-year deal worth $51 million.

The deal was inked on Saturday and includes a 4th year player option worth around $8 million.

Jeter batted .270 last season and had only 10 home runs. His defense is also slowing down as well, he does not have the same range as he once had.

There were some people crazy enough out there saying the Rays should go after and sign him, but this was never going to happen. Jeter just wanted more money than any sensible team would pay, so he went back to the Yankees (bazzing!). Jeter will be buried in pinstripes and this was bound to happen from the end of the season.
