As we step into the international signing window, the Rays are thrilled to confirm the acquisition of talented athletes that will join their organization to hopefully grow into incredible major league players. Some of the best players in the world started in this international draft at a very young age, including three-time MVP Shohei Ohtani, star outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr, and even former Rays top prospect Wander Franco.

However, it's very difficult to tell how these kids will pan out on the big stage because they still have a ton of growing and maturing to do. Also, they are surrounded by amazing players that could possibly overshadow them, so hard work is still essential for them to reach their full potential. With that being said, the Rays have their eyes on some fantastic talent from the Dominican Republic.

1. Raymer Medina

As the No. 20 international prospect available, Medina has the potential to be a very valuable player. His greatest strength is his defense, which is likely a major reason for the Rays pursuit of this 17-year old. Tampa Bay is always on a search for high-caliber defensive shortstops in particular, and that's exactly what Medina brings to the table. He was able to accrue a 60 scouting grade for fielding due to his agility, quick feet, and great control, which make him the elite defender he is. Although his bat doesn't pull as much weight, the young athlete shows aggression and tenacity at the plate which could translate to better results in the future.

2. Maykel Coret

Coret is a Dominican-born outfielder with loads of upside. The 6'4 athlete is an all-around fantastic athlete as he displays plus-power and plus, plus-speed. The explosive bat speed from this youngster makes him a major threat at the plate and allows him to manifest impressive power. Along with his quick hands and feet, the right-handed prospect has also been clocked at a breathtaking 96 mph from the outfield, solidifying him as a potential five-tool player in the big leagues. No wonder Maykel Coret is the No. 9 ranked international prospect this offseason. Hopefully the Rays make true to their word of signing this unbelievable talent.

3. Warel Solano

Solano has been able to show scouts his great power potential from the right side of the plate as he possesses an aggressive and powerful swing. Therefore, the extra-base pop is certainly present. However, the 6'0 middle infielder is weaker on the defensive side of the ball. Ideally, the Rays can strengthen that part of his game and allow his offense to ride him to the major leagues. The front office is still excited for the opportunity to sign the No. 30 ranked prospect.
