Brandon Lowe leading the way for Tampa Bay Rays' lineup in second half

Brandon Lowe has seen his power come alive during the second half of this season. This has been big for him, as he has shown that he can still be a viable bat as he has now entered his 30s.

The Tampa Bay Rays are fighting through a tough month of August in order to keep themselves in contention, with the postseason creeping closer into the picture. A big part of their ultimate result is the production Tampa Bay will get out of their lineup after they sold away a lot of big names at the trade deadline. Currently, the Rays rank 25th in team average and hits per game. In general, they have not been hitting to the franchise's previous standards.

One player that Tampa Bay has seen great production out of recently, as they attempt to navigate choppy waters, is Brandon Lowe. His second half in particular has shown that he can still be great with his bat.

The first half of the season for Lowe was nothing too great. He finished with a batting average of .242 and an on-base percentage of .341. However, he has turned his game up a notch and flipped into possibly the team's best hitter thus far in the second half of the season.

Tampa Bay Rays' Brandon Lowe is doubling up production post-All-Star break

In 19 games and 73 at-bats after the 2024 All-Star break, his average has shot up to .274 and his slugging has improved, showing he is hitting more often for extra bases, piling up more doubles than he'd posted in 161 at-bats during the first half of the season.

Lowe has also always been a player known for the power he can unleash at different times. He had nine home runs in the first half, and has five long balls here to start the second half of the season. The home run pace has improved drastically, as he can surpass his 2023 total of 21 bombs if he keeps it up.

Tampa Bay entered the second half of the season a different-looking team than before. For Lowe to up his game and deliver more extra-bases and overall improved hitting has been refreshing for the Rays organization, as they have a player they can hang their hat who can continue to play well for them in the future.
