The hits keep coming for the Rays rotation as starting pitcher Drew Rasmussen is going to the 15-day injured list. The move comes after he felt some hamstring tightness following his start in Minnesota. After a game where he surrendered nine hits and four earned runs, it was clear something wasn't right for the usually stout Rasmussen.

Slated to start on Thursday against the Yankees, Tampa Bay will likely be forced to resort to a bullpen game in New York. Currently, Jalen Beeks is the scheduled starter.

So far in 2022, Rasmussen has an ERA of 3.38 and K/BB of 49/16 with a record of 5-3. Expected to hold down the third spot in the rotation following the return of Shane Baz, the Rays will have to wait a bit longer to see their rotation at full strength once again.

Since the move was retroactive to last Sunday, the earliest Rasmussen can return is June 28th. This would put him in line for a return during the Rays' road trip to Toronto where they will play a lengthy five-game set.
