The Rays have announced that they have signed RHP Pete Fairbanks to a 3-year contract extension.

Since being brought to Tampa Bay in a trade with the Texas Rangers in 2019, Pete has been a key cog in the Rays bullpen. Since joining the Rays, Pete has pitched 105 innings with 146 strikeouts and a 2.98 ERA.

In 2022, after starting the season on the IL and not making his season debut until July 17th, Fairbanks pitched in 24 innings while accumulating 38 strikeouts and a 1.13 ERA.

Pete's contract extension will void his case for his arbitration hearing that would have taken place in early February. As broken down by Tampa Bay Times reporter Marc Topkin, Fairbanks will earn $3.66 million a year for the next 3 years with incentives.
