The Tampa Bay Rays have yet to lose a game this season, rallying from a 3-1 deficit against the Boston Red Sox on Thursday for their 13th straight win to open the 2023 season.

Now, Tampa Bay is favored on the road on Friday against the Toronto Blue Jays with a chance to set an MLB record with a 14th straight win to start the season.

Drew Rasmussen (2-0, 0.00 ERA) gets the ball for Tampa Bay against Toronto’s Jose Berrios (0-2, 11.17 ERA).

The Rays have a massive pitching advantage in this matchup with Berrios struggling, but can they set the MLB record?

Here’s a look at the latest odds:

Rays vs. Blue Jays odds, run line and total

Rays vs. Blue Jays prediction and pick

Jose Berrios has really struggled since last season, and his advanced numbers from his first two starts of the 2023 campaign are downright awful.

The Blue Jays right-hander ranks in the 19th percentile in expected batting average, 14th in hard hit percentage and 24th in expected ERA.

Meanwhile, Rasmussen is in the 91st percentile or better in all three of those categories.

It’s early in the season, so there is still plenty of time for Berrios to turn things around, but I can’t quit the Rays while they are this hot.

Tampa Bay’s run differential is absolutely nuts so far this season.

The Rays are going to lose at some point, but I don’t see it coming with this lopsided pitching matchup.
