Still riding a high from one of the best season-opening win streaks in MLB history, the 16-3 Tampa Bay Rays are set to host the fourth place Chicago White Sox for a three-game set at home. While the Rays have been firing on all cylinders, the Sox have stumbled out of the gates with a 7-12 record thanks to a faltering lineup and pitching staff.

Rays vs. White Sox, probable starting pitchers, April 21

  • Calvin Faucher, used last week as an opener for Josh Fleming, is going to be used as more of a traditional starter in Friday's matchup. After coming up as a reliever, the 27-year-old is going to try and go around four innings against the White Sox before turning it over to the bullpen. So far this season, Faucher has a 4.15 ERA and six strikeouts in 8.2 innings of work.
  • Taking the mound for the White Sox will be former top prospect Michael Kopech. Now 26 years of age, Kopech has had a rough go of it to start the 2023 season. In three starts and 15.2 innings, he has a 6.32 ERA thanks to 11 earned runs on 16 hits. He also leads the major leagues in home runs allowed with seven, and has experienced a loss of control, walking 10 batters already.
