The first place Tampa Bay Rays are set to take on the Chicago White Sox for the second of a three-game series at home in Tropicana Field. The Rays have been absolutely rolling so far this year, losing just three games while winning 17.

In Friday's matchup, the club homered for the 20th straight game, which ties an all-time record to start a regular season.

Rays vs. White Sox, probable starting pitchers, April 22

  • It's going to be a true battle of the aces in Saturday's game. Lefty Shane McClanahan is going to be making the fifth start of his 2023 season. So far, the 25-year-old has been everything Kevin Cash could ask for and then some. In 23 innings of work, he has a 1.57 ERA, 2.43 FIP and 266 ERA+. Dating back to the 2021 season, McClanahan has been establishing himself as one of the best southpaws in the game and that should be on full display today.
  • Forming the other half of this intriguing pitching matchup will be right-hander Dylan Cease. The 27-year-old is also in line to make his fifth start, and he's been every bit as solid as McClanahan. In 22.1 innings, Cease has a 2.01 ERA and 224 ERA+, striking out 29 batter along the way. He is coming off of a season in which he finished second in the AL Cy Young Award voting.
