Rays vs. White Sox, probable starting pitchers, April 22
- It's going to be a true battle of the aces in Saturday's game. Lefty Shane McClanahan is going to be making the fifth start of his 2023 season. So far, the 25-year-old has been everything Kevin Cash could ask for and then some. In 23 innings of work, he has a 1.57 ERA, 2.43 FIP and 266 ERA+. Dating back to the 2021 season, McClanahan has been establishing himself as one of the best southpaws in the game and that should be on full display today.
- Forming the other half of this intriguing pitching matchup will be right-hander Dylan Cease. The 27-year-old is also in line to make his fifth start, and he's been every bit as solid as McClanahan. In 22.1 innings, Cease has a 2.01 ERA and 224 ERA+, striking out 29 batter along the way. He is coming off of a season in which he finished second in the AL Cy Young Award voting.
