The Rays seem to always have talented pitching awaiting their moment in their impressive farm system. The first Spring Breakout game against the Mets put this fact on full display as the young hurlers zero runs on six hits leading the Rays to a 2-0 victory. The wins and losses clearly don't matter in a game like this, but the world got to see the bright future of the Rays' pitching.

The 20-year-old Jose Urbina started this game for the Rays, tossing three scoreless frames and accruing three strikeouts. The Venezuelan pitcher broke out in a big way for Single-A Charleston last season. He went 7-2 with a 2.05 ERA in 92 innings. Urbina is clearly too young to join the Rays roster just yet. He was named the No. 29 prospect in the Tampa Bay organization after this impressive performance as he continues to grow.

Newly acquired Michael Forret earned two outs in the 4th inning of the contest. The 21-year-old hurler was dealt to the Rays as a part of a package of four prospects for highly regarded starter Shane Baz. Forret put together a sub-2.00 ERA for the Orioles Single-A and Double-A teams. His outing for the Spring Breakout game was very similar as he struck out and avoided giving up a run.

Alex Cook also tossed a scoreless frame during this game. The Rays' 2022 draft saw Cook leave in the 12th round. However, Cook pitched more like an older player as he had a perfect inning, giving up zero runs on zero hits. It was a shutdown performance and proved why Alex Cook is the only pitcher to appear on the Rays; 40-man roster. Therefore, he has easy access to be added to the everyday roster in an emergency circumstance.

The last Rays' pitcher we'll touch on is 21-year-old Anderson Brito. Brito joined the Rays in the Brandon Lowe deal that also sent Jake Mangum and Mason Montgomery to the Pirates. Brito has performed very well for the Astros in his career to the tune of a 2.36 ERA and 147 strikeouts. In his first Spring Breakout game as a Ray, Brito showed that the sky is the limit for his MLB potential. In three innings, the Venezuelan product gave up two hits, but he made up for it with three strikeouts and zero runs to secure a 2-0 win.
