The Dodgers completed a five-run comeback to defeat the New York Yankees in this year's edition of the Fall Classic. They showed utter dominance both at the plate and on the mound. Therefore, in honor of LA's second championship of this century, let's rewind to their last World Series against your very own Tampa Bay Rays.

The 2020 Rays look very different than the team that will take the field in 2025. There are actually only four players still on the depth chart that can recount the incredible memories of October 2020. Pete Fairbanks, Brandon Lowe, Yandy Diaz, and Shane McClanahan are the only members of the Rays that were part of that 2020 World Series club.

If you recall, the 2020 baseball season (and year as a whole) was a bit chaotic and strange as the season was shortened to only 60 exhibitions. The Rays didn't let this stand in their way though as they put together one of the most impressive seasons in franchise history and climbed all the way to the Fall Classic. However different the season may have been, baseball fans can't deny the success that Randy Arozarena and company had throughout the 2020 postseason. The talented club knocked off playoff powerhouses in the Yankees and Astros to ascend to the World Series.

The Rays and Dodgers split the first two games of the 2020 World Series as the Dodgers started as the home team in the neutral site in Arlington, Texas. Game 3 went in favor of LA as Walker Buehler tossed six innings of one-run baseball and collected 10 strikeouts. Charlie Morton on the Rays' side had opposite fortunes as he was pulled after only 4 1/3 innings, giving up five runs on seven hits.

Game 4 was perhaps one of the most entertaining World Series games in history. The Dodgers led off the scoring affair with two home runs in the first three innings. Justin Turner and Corey Seager unleashed solo shots off of Rays' crafty left-hander, Ryan Yarbrough.

Randy Arozarena got the Rays on the board in the bottom of the 4th with a solo blast. The ALCS MVP finished the 2020 postseason with an MLB record 10 home runs. His extraordinary display of power carried the Rays' offense into this favorable position.

Muncy added a run in the 5th on an RBI single and then Hunter Renfroe joined the slugfest with his first career World Series blast. This back-and-forth contest was just getting started.

Kike Hernandez responded with an RBI double off of electric reliever, Diego Castillo the next inning. In the bottom of the 6th, Brandon Lowe crushed a three run homer to right center field off of Dodgers righty, Pedro Baez. This was Lowe's third home run of the 2020 World Series and his fifth in the entire postseason. The score now stood at 5-4 in favor of Tampa Bay. However, Rays' fans were far from a secure victory.

In the top of the 7th inning, veteran outfielder, Joc Pederson sneaked a ground ball passed a diving Brandon Lowe to return the lead to Los Angeles. 2024 World Series champ, Kevin Kiermaier erased the lead quickly with a no-doubt home run in the bottom of the frame. The clutch tendencies of Kiermaier continued to knot Game 4 at six runs a piece. He would finish his first World Series with a .368 AVG and 2 HRs.

The relentless Dodgers regained the lead in the 8th with an RBI single, but it wouldn't be enough for pinch-hitter, Brett Phillips. The unlikely hero of Game 4 came off the bench to face prosperous closer, Kenley Jansen. With two outs in the bottom of the 9th inning, Phillips dropped a blooper into shallow left field. Chris Taylor bobbled the ball and then chaos ensued. Kiermaier scored easily from second and Arozarena decided to test his luck, barrelling towards home plate as the winning run. For whatever reason, the star slugger tripped and tumbled before reaching home. Every Rays' fans' heart dropped simultaneously as we anticipated extra innings. Unexpectedly, Dodger's catcher, Will Smith allowed the throw home to deflect off of his glove and Randy Arozarena trotted home for the victory.

The next scene was Brett Phillips spreading his arms out as airplane wings and sprinting around the outfield with the Rays' dugout hotly pursuing him. It was a surreal moment all around for the Rays and for baseball overall.

The Dodgers would defeat the Rays in games 5 and 6 and become the 2020 World Series champions. Congratulations to the Los Angeles Dodgers for their 8th World Series crown and 2nd in the last four years.
