Just over a third of the 2022 season has come and gone, and the Tampa Bay Rays (at the time of writing) possess both a 35-26 record and a playoff spot in the American League. Once again in the thick of a crowded AL East race, the Rays are poised to be buyers at the trade deadline. In 2021, they acquired slugger Nelson Cruz, and it may be necessary for them to make an even bigger splash this because 4 of the 5 teams in their division currently sit in a playoff position.
