If you haven't been tracking this young athlete on your radar, then start to take notice. Tre' Morgan is a 21-year old left-handed first baseman/outfielder. He has bounced between both positions since joining the Rays' organization, primarily playing first base. Morgan is a product of Louisiana State University where he was an absolute menace in the SEC. The outfielder never hit below .300 in a collegiate season and his best campaign was his freshman year where he slashed .357/.441/.526. Amazingly, these incredible numbers have not fluctuated at all since he entered professional ball. In fact, he seems to get even better each season. Tre' Morgan rose to the ranks of Double-A with the Montgomery Biscuits in just two years. He had an astounding .408 on-base percentage between three different minor league clubs in 2024.
If you thought his resume couldn't be improved, Morgan added to it during the MLB All-Star break as he was included in the Futures Skills Showcase. Although he didn't win the competition, Morgan finished in 6th place with 34 total points in the inaugural showcase. Roman Anthony of the Red Sox organization won the event with a total of 66 points, but Tre' Morgan definitely opened some eyes with his phenomenal athleticism.
Above all, Morgan is showing off in the annual Arizona Fall League. The AFL was established in 1992 to allow players to sharpen their skill sets during the MLB (and MILB) offseason. This league has aided many athletes in gaining exposure from their own front office and organizations across the league. Through five games, Morgan has dazzled as he is currently hitting .417 with 1 homerun and 10 RBIs. He is tied for seventh in AVG and second in RBIs amongst his competitors. As we all know, baseball is a team sport, so it becomes even more impressive that Tre' Morgan is leading a first place team (Mesa Solar Sox) to a 6-3 record. Although, the short league is still 21 games shy of completion, we can't deny the success of this club and our very own, Tre' Morgan.
Now, a spotlight article wouldn't be complete without a prediction of the player's future. Assuming that Morgan stays with the Tampa Bay organization for the foreseeable future, we believe he could be called up at the end of the 2025 season or the beginning of 2026 at the earliest.
Our stats' prediction for Morgan's first full season: .268 AVG with 13 HRs and 62 RBIs
